Beckenham at the Year 2000
The BPS Millennium Project
BPS are marking the Millennium by making a
photographic archive of life in Beckenham in 1999 and 2000.
BPS members have been out
and about taking photos of people, places and events over the last two years 500
photographs will be archived on CD ROM for use by our descendants be they schools,
libraries, local societies and other institutions. A selection of 200 to 300 of the photos
will form the basis of talks to local organisations.
As well as the Archive and
the talks mentioned above, the Society is seeking lottery funding to help with both the
cost of publishing some of the photos in book form during next year and the purchase/hire
of the equipment for the multiple scanning and digital recording of the photos on to CD.
If successful in obtaining
lottery funding, the Society is considering making the above equipment, together with BPS
photographic skills, available to help other local organisations put the pictorial records
on to electronic media.
