Now You Can Leave Your Mark On Bowie’s Bandstand

Bromley residents and David Bowie fans from around the world now have a unique opportunity to leave their mark on the restored bandstand at Croydon Road Recreation Ground, which will form a lasting tribute to the music legend.

Bowie, who died in January, spent some of his formative years in the borough. Fans want to create a memorial at the bandstand, where he played in 1969.

Bromley Council and the Friends of Croydon Road Recreation Ground have now extended their fundraising efforts. Supporters can donate money for a personalised brick that will be placed around the bandstand.

The brick can have any message etched into it and is the perfect opportunity to remember a loved one, celebrate a special occasion, pay a tribute to the man himself, or promote a local business. The bricks cost £100 each. The proceeds will be used to fund the restoration work and go towards the future enjoyment of the park and the bandstand.

Once the restoration work is complete, the personalised bricks will create a path around the bandstand and form an additional performing space for events.

You can buy a brick through the Bromley Council website, at the Civic Centre, or by calling 0300 303 8658. You can pay by sending a cheque to Civic Centre, Stockwell Close, Bromley BR1 3UH. All cheques should be payable to the London Borough of Bromley.

What message would you place on your personalised brick?
