Bromley Council has approved plans for the development of a new Premier Inn hotel in the local area. The hotel will be built in Orpington and is due to open early next year. Once work on the site is complete, the hotel will feature 61 bedrooms and create around 25 jobs for the local area.
The site of the new hotel is situated on the High Street in Orpington. The project will involve a renovation of Walnuts House in the Walnuts Shopping Centre complex. The Council approved plans for the hotel based on the improvements it will make to amenities within the town and how it complements existing regeneration projects.
The opening of this new Premier Inn is part of an overall regeneration of the town centre that is set to attract more businesses and investment to the region and encourage more people to move into the area. The hotel scheme alone will be responsible for a £5.8 million investment in Orpington, along with the new permanent positions.
Work on the site will be carried out by Miller Developments and is expected to commence later on this year. Premier Inn anticipates welcoming the first customers to its new hotel at the start of 2016.
