Arrest After Horrific Accident In Penge This Week - Car Stolen From Birkbeck Road In Beckenham

A male, Joshua Dolby of no fixed address will appear at Bromley magistrates court charged with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving and one count of causing serious injury. He would also be charged for driving whilst without a licence or insurance and two counts of aggravated vehicle theft.

The accident this week occurred at Leonard Road in Penge and claimed the lives of 10-year-old Makayah McDermott and his 34-year-old aunt Rozanne Cooper. Both were pronounced dead at the scene despite attempts to resuscitate them.

Jackie Francis from Beckenham said of Roseann Cooper “We were neighbourly. She was a really nice girl. We would say hello as she came and went. I just couldn’t believe it when I heard. She was a typical young mother, always with the children, she was very fond of her children.It’s just horrible. They were a close family, undoubtedly close.”

The horrific incident occurred not long after 2PM on Wednesday of this week. Please were chasing a black ford focus which had already been reported as stolen from nearby Birkbeck Road in Beckenham.
