November, 2021, UK - Colleagues from Co-op Funeralcare in Downham have officially launched their pyjama appeal, seeking to collect as many brand-new nightgowns and pyjama sets for children who will be spending the festive season in hospitals or pediatric hospices across the country. The appeal is set to last until mid-December, with colleagues at the funeral home working to distribute all donated items across key regional hospitals, hospices and women’s shelters in time for Christmas.
Those wishing to help colleagues at the Co-op Funeralcare reach as many children in need as possible can donate brand new pyjama sets for children aged 18 and below, including newborns. The items can then be dropped off at the Co-op funeral homes on 426 Downham Way or 77 Mottingham Road from Monday to Friday, 9am until 4.30pm. All donations will subsequently be divided and distributed to as many children’s hospitals and hospices across the country, in an attempt to bring a bit of comfort while they battle with ill health this holiday season.
Debbie Rose, Funeral Director at the Co-op Funeralcare in Downham, said: “As the festive season is fast approaching, we wanted to once again call upon our enormously generous local community to help us organise a pyjama appeal for all children stuck in hospitals, hospices and women’s shelters around the country this Christmas. No child should have to suffer, especially while their peers cheerfully await for Santa Claus, so the very least we can do is make sure they have comfortable, brand-new pyjamas to keep them warm and cosy this winter.”
