Bromley Healthcare works with other organisations in the borough to help local people quit smoking. In 2014, they supported 1,310 people in giving up the habit. In 2013, 18.1 per cent of residents smoked; this figure had fallen to 16 per cent in 2014.
As part of their Stoptober campaign, Bromley Healthcare will run additional Stop Smoking sessions every Thursday from 12pm to 3pm. These will take place throughout October at the Civic Centre. They have also launched a virtual support system that provides individual support for people at home.
If you want to find out more about how Bromley Healthcare can help you stop smoking, you can visit www.smokefreebromley.co.uk. You can also text QUIT to 888010 or call 0800 587 8821 to find out about the range of support services that are available in the area and to book an appointment.
This year’s Stoptober will coincide with the introduction of legislation to stop people smoking when they have someone under the age of 18 in their car. Orpington and Princess Royal University Hospitals will also become smoke-free from 1st October.
