The gallery is located within Bethlem Royal Hospital, which is the oldest psychiatric hospital in the world.

The contemporary arts exhibition, which began last week, will continue until 16^th October. The artwork being exhibited was created by those associated with the hospital, including staff, patients, volunteers and gallery artists. The focal point of the event will be a wooden kitchen table that was designed and manufactured by people from the Bethlem Wood Library using wood from within the grounds of the hospital.

As part of the exhibition, the gallery will run some one-off events that are open to members of the public. The topics for these discussions will include kitchen table subjects such as current affairs and politics. They will be hosted by patients and staff who have been invited to create their own events and workshops. There will also be an opportunity for visitors to engrave their own glass to take home at a workshop around the table.
