Hundreds of runners will take part in the Beckenham Half Marathon on September 6th to raise much-needed funds for Action Against Cancer.
The event is just a couple of weeks away, but there is still plenty of time for people to register for the event and make a practical contribution to the fight against cancer. This 13.1-mile course around the town of Beckenham and neighbouring areas will start and finish at Beckenham Rugby Club on Balmoral Avenue.
The event is designed for all skill levels, from serious runners to beginners. If you know someone who has been affected by cancer, this is a good opportunity to dig out your running shoes and do your bit to raise funds to combat this terrible disease. Action Against Cancer is a charity that works with one of the world’s leading oncologists, Prof Justin Stebbing, who is based at Hammersmith Hospital in London.
This is also a great way to remember people who have been affected by cancer, particularly those who are no longer with us. Almost everybody has had some experience with this disease, and it can have a devastating effect on families. Raising funds for those who are working hard to find cures and treatments is the best way to help those who are still fighting the illness.
Don’t forget that this is the ideal chance to get your family and friends together and take part in a fun event that can help you to get a bit fitter. Let us know in the comments section if you plan to come along and make a difference!
