Jane, who was a finalist in the 2016 Great British Bake Off competition, will be cutting the ribbon to officially open the market at 9.45am on 27 November, alongside the Mayor of Bromley, Cllr. Ian F Payne.
The new market will have a Christmas theme for its launch event on 27 November and will feature 40+ handpicked stalls of best local handmade Christmas crafts, artisan food, clothes, jewellery, home furnishings and plenty more, including a selection of sizzling street food and produce from around the globe. Traders include London Pooch, Red Cow Carvery, Elvira’s Secret Pantry, Stripey Squirrel, Sapore Vero and Planet Pancake.
As well as local produce and crafts, there will be workshops, a graffiti wall, music from DJ Bob Bird and live acts. A Santa’s Grotto is being provided by Whippersnappers.org, including photographs by a magical interactive mirror, gifts, face painting, reindeer food and fairy dust filled with Christmas spirit.
Internationally renowned local artist and professor, Danny Rolph, will be judging a children’s bookmark competition and announcing the winner at the Christmas Market. The deadline for entries to the bookmark competition is 20 November.
Entry to the market is £3 per adult, with children free. The entry includes a one pound donation to the Market’s chosen charities – The Bromley Homeless Shelter, Bromley Brighter Beginnings and St Christopher’s Hospice. The entry fee also includes the chance to win a special prize donated by Beckenham’s very own Jane Beedle.
