You can now be immortalised in Beckenham history by purchasing one of the bricks that will make up the restored bandstand. The Victorian structure is a feature of Croydon Road Recreation Ground and has been enjoyed by residents and visitors to the area over the years.
The bandstand is in need of restoration, and the work is being carried out as part of a partnership between Friends of Croydon Road Recreation Ground and Bromley Council. In order to finance the project, bricks are being sold that will create a path around the bandstand. The work is expected to be completed later this year.
A lasting memory
These personalised bricks will feature a small inscription, which will then be seen by generations of visitors to the park. Each brick can be purchased for £100, and all of the funds will be used to finance the bandstand’s restoration.
The bricks can be purchased by individuals, community groups, businesses, and anyone else who wishes to take part and contribute to the future use of the bandstand. People or groups who buy a personalised brick will be able to attend a celebratory event when the work is finished.
For further information on the project or to buy one of the bricks, visit the website at www.bromley.gov.uk/beckenhambandstand.
We would love to hear from anyone who has already bought one of these personalised bricks. What inspired you to make a donation to this project? What inscription did you decide on?
