Public speaking doesn’t come naturally to many people, and some of us need a little bit of help and encouragement. Improving your speaking skills can pay dividends in many areas of your life, from increasing your self-confidence to boosting your career prospects.
The Beckenham Speakers Club was established to help anyone who wants to improve this crucial skill. The club meets twice a month at the Azelia Halls at 258 Croydon Road. The informal workshops take place on the first and third Thursday of the month between 8pm and 10pm. The club suggests arriving 15 minutes early to have time to introduce yourself and socialise.
At the workshops, there will be time devoted to discussing what makes an effective speaker. You will also have the opportunity to participate in exercises that help you improve your abilities. Anyone is welcome to attend the sessions, whether you’re a complete beginner or an expert speaker. The group consists of a number of experienced speakers who want to support the novice members on their road to delivering effective speeches.
The fee to attend is £3 per session, which covers the cost of the group and any necessary supplies. Members can also access a private section of the website that details upcoming events.
The next session of the Beckenham Speakers Club before the group breaks for the summer is on 2nd July. Further information can be found here.
