Harris Girls’ Academy Bromley has finished 2015 on a high with a topping off ceremony for a new building on the site as the Academy’s three-storey building and sports hall reached their highest point. They are now looking forward to the building’s official opening in 2016.
To help mark the topping off of the new building, a number of students from Year 11 were able to access the top of the building. They joined representatives from the school, construction company, and other relevant parties to put the final piece into place.
The Academy has already had a successful 2015 with the opening of fantastic new canteen facilities, and the further expansion of the site will push forward their excellence in science and technology. The work on the Academy, which is situated on Lennard Road in Beckenham, is part of a £14 million investment in the site, which will provide outstanding facilities for current and future students.
The school is also showing considerable academic success. Pupils sitting their GCSEs performed exceptionally well this year, with students making better progress than those at 96 per cent of the country’s schools. Students who took A-levels this summer helped the Academy to achieve their best results ever.
Harris Girls’ Academy Bromley is part of the Harris Federation, which includes 37 primary and secondary schools across London.
Do you have a child who attends Harris Girls’ Academy? How do you think the expansion will add to the facilities on offer at the school?
