Bromley Council is set to be the first local authority in the country to use an innovative smartphone app designed to reduce fraud in the area. This new use of technology will enable residents in Bromley to report any suspected cases of fraud quickly and easily.
The Bromley Fraud Reporter is available as a free download on the Google Play and App Store for Android and Apple devices. When residents use the app to report suspected fraud, they can be confident that the service is secure and confidential.
In addition to serving as a tool for local people to report fraud, it can also be used by the Council to alert residents to new forms of fraud or scams that are taking place.
The app was developed using anti-fraud funding through the Department of Communities and Local Government. It is hoped that other boroughs will also take the app on board. Bromley Council currently works alongside the Royal Borough of Greenwich in the fight against fraud. The boroughs have already brought successful prosecutions against more than 400 cases combined.
In addition to using the app, Bromley residents can also call the Council’s Fraud Hotline on 0800 169 6975 or email them at firstname.lastname@example.org.
