Bromley’s main shopping centre has today been re-branded as ‘The Glades’ – 25 years after it first had the name chosen by local residents.
The Glades is now called The Glades, again.
Intu shopping centres, formally called The Glades has now sold the centre to an American investment company, who have called it, er, The Glades.
The third largest shopping centre in London has now had its name restored after it was sold to Alaska permanent fund corp (APFC).
APFC acquired the 464,000 square foot centre and was completed on 15th December 2016. Rebranding will begin immediately.
Philip Wardle, Head of In Town Retail with LaSalle Investment Management, which will manage the centre on behalf of APFC, said "We’re thrilled to be able to return The Glades to the people of Bromley, a quarter of a century after it was first christened by them, As we look to lead the centre into the future with exciting new projects and developments, we felt it was important to revert to the name which carries so much history and heritage for the local community.”
