The borough’s third Green Gym was launched at the end of July, offering Bromley residents a different way to exercise and meet new people.
The latest Green Gym, which has been designed and is managed by volunteers from The Conservation Volunteers, is based at the Whitehall Recreation Ground. The Green Gym sessions will take place every Monday from 10:45am and 2:00pm, and everyone is welcome to attend. Those who want to join in should meet at the recreation ground’s entrance on Southlands Road.
The sessions are run by volunteers from the group. Their goal is to enhance the park’s features and help local people improve their mental and physical health whilst taking on board new skills. Each of the sessions will start with some gentle exercises, which will warm up participants and get them ready for the activities. There will be a break for tea, and the session will end with some and cool-down exercises.
The range of tasks will cater for different experience and fitness levels. This includes building an educational area, creating raised beds, and planting a meadow for wild flowers.
