If you want to spend a day at the beach but don’t fancy the drive to the coast, you can get the best of both worlds right in Croydon. Platform, which is situated within the Ruskin Square development, will be home to Croydon on the Beach for six weeks.
This will be the first urban beach in South London, and it promises something for all ages throughout the summer. The beach officially opens at 11:00am today and runs until 6th September. It will be open daily from 11:00am to 9:00pm. Entrance to the beach is free. The event is being supported by the Saint Lucia Tourist Board.
There will be 45 tons of real sand to enjoy without having to spend hours in the car or deal with all the crowds and traffic associated with the coast. You can choose to enjoy your day at Croydon’s very own beach with a picnic and relax on a deckchair while the children play. A variety of refreshments will also be available.
The summer will see a fantastic programme of entertainment at Croydon on the Beach, giving you plenty of time to catch some Caribbean action. Thursdays and Fridays will play host to a Saint Lucian-style party, where you can enjoy the great-tasting authentic street food, delicious cocktails for the adults, and live music.
