If your children are into theatre and the arts, they might be interested in a series of workshops and classes that start later this month. The free festival will include a masterclass by Matt Flint, X Factor’s creative director.
The groups will take place in Beckenham and are run by a local charity, Create Projects Studio. The charity, which was formed in 2013 by Lauren Rice, has carried out a number of fundraising activities in order to fund the free festival.
Summerfest will take place from 21st June to 19th July and will include a range of events run by leading professionals from the theatre and dance industry. Anyone young people from Beckenham and the wider south east area who are interested in dance can attend.
The workshops will include lessons from stars of the West End stage who have performed in the likes of Dirty Dancing, Starlight Express and Cats. The first masterclass will be a lesson in musical theatre jazz. This kicks off the festival on 21st June and will be taught by Matt Flint, who is the patron of the charity. He won the television talent competition So You Think You Can Dance and is now the creative director of the X Factor.
What do you think about the availability of activities for young people in the area? What other classes and events would you like to see held?
