Beckenham residents will be treated to an early Christmas present with the Christmas on the Green event. With live festive entertainment, a candlelit procession, and the town’s Christmas lights being switched on, this is a day for the whole family to enjoy. Here is a rundown of the day’s events.
Christmas market and funfair
Christmas on the Green will take place on Saturday 5th December. The day begins at noon when the fun gets underway on Beckenham Green. Residents will be able to watch the live festive entertainment, take home a balloon model from one of the elves, meet some real reindeer, and enjoy the rides at the funfair. There will also be a craft and local produce market, where you can pick up some gifts and treats and sample some delicious hot food.
A candlelit procession will begin at 4:30pm from the Post Office on Rectory Road. Six hundred child-safe lanterns will be given away, and the procession will be led through the town by a marching band. There will also be carol singers joining in along the route to get everyone in the festive spirit.
Christmas lights switch on
Christmas on the Green will finish at 5:15pm with a Christmas sing-along on the Green, and the town’s Christmas lights will be switched on.
