Join Carolyn William, owner of Nia Inner Goddess, for a free taster session of Nia, a unique form of holistic dance and exercise, on Sunday 28 August at Chantry Studios, Bromley.
The session is part of the Citygate Food+ ‘We Are Bromley’ week (22-28 August 2016).
Nia Inner Goddess classes involve low impact, mindful dance, martial arts and yoga-inspired movement practice to soulful music. Fusing dance and martial arts with the healing practice of yoga, Nia helps to improve strength and flexibility.
Carolyn, who is a licensed Nia teacher, explains: “Nia Inner Goddess is a really inclusive way for people to exercise effectively but gently. The classes are designed to be a fun experience, allowing participants to explore body awareness and release inhibitions.”
Carolyn’s Nia Inner Goddess classes have been hugely popular, and plans are already confirmed to launch additional sessions in Orpington and Camberwell Grove from September.
Nia Inner Goddess classes are particularly effective at helping people who feel as though they are stuck in a rut of everyday activities. The repetitive nature of day to day routines can mean that the body gets stuck using the same motions day in day out. This can lead to repetitive strain injuries, poor posture, and fatigue for some muscle groups and underuse of others, all of which can leave individuals feeling lethargic, unfit and may also impact on self-esteem and mental wellbeing as well as physical health.
Nia provides a safe, low-impact way to expand the body's range of movement and is accessible to people at all fitness levels. The safe, supportive environment also means that participants are free to move without fear of judgement, and Carolyn actively encourages everyone who attends her classes to ‘shimmy’ in ways they may have left behind long ago, letting their inner child run free.
Carolyn adds: “I love seeing people who have come into the class feeling tense and stressed, leave with a feeling of lightness and joy. It’s so rewarding, and I’m thrilled to be able to offer that experience to more people with my new classes.”
The free taster session is being offered at the end of the first ever ‘We Are Bromley’ Week, on Sunday 28 August at Chantry Studios, 20 Chantry Lane, Bromley, BR2 9QL between 2.30-3.30pm. To book into the free session, contact Carolyn William on 07999 357008 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
The week of events, which is being sponsored by intu Bromley and coordinated by Citygate Food+ Bromley, is designed to inspire local people and businesses in Bromley to celebrate their local community, play a part in making Bromley a better place to live and to be active in helping vulnerable people in their community.
