Father and son duo, David and Will Reading, from Bromley, are celebrating success after qualifying for the American Golf Adventure Golf Championship national finals with a low score of 20 on the course at Croydon World of Golf.
The pair now go forward to showcase their skills once at the blue ribband final in September, held at the iconic Ryder Cup venue the Belfry. This is a great achievement, particularly for David’s son, Will, who at 13 is just starting out in the sport. At the final, David and Will go up against regional qualifiers from all over Great Britain, where they are hoping their impressive putting skills will help them come out on top.
The Adventure Golf Championship by American Golf has been created to introduce more people to the game. It is designed to give complete beginners the chance to compete alongside seasoned players with the emphasis on friendly competition and most of all fun.
Daniel Gathercole – Director of Marketing and Communications at American Golf commented, ”We’ve added Adventure Golf to our Championship events this year so that anyone can come along and have fun taking part in an American Golf event, even if they’ve never picked up a golf club before. Adventure Golf is a fantastic way of introducing young people to golf, and it’s great that absolute beginners can have fun playing alongside regular golfers. Who knows, a competition like this could be the start of a journey that takes someone from an absolute beginner to winning a major!”
