Bowie Crowdfunding Campaign Launched To Restore The Bandstand

'Friends of Bec' rec have launched a crowdfunding campaign to restore the Bowie Bandstand in Beckenham recreation ground.

The bandstand is where Bowie performed with Beckenham Arts Lab Growth Summer Festival in 1969.

The news to restore the bandstand follows the concert last Saturday 'A Beckenham Oddity'. Once restored the bandstand will be a 'fit-for-purpose performance space'.

If you are interested in getting behind the bandstand you can give at www.spacehive.com/bowiebandstand. £35,000 already raised with another £93,000 to go.

Chris Phillips, the Chairman of Friends of Croydon Road Recreation Ground, said “Local people will know that this restoration project has been close to our hearts for some time and we are making progress to that epic goal.  Please do pledge a donation and show your support.  If you would like to get practically involved in the park, including the bandstand, please do consider joining our group.”
